LEAK TESTS
Leak test with postive and/or negative pressure to check the leak-tightness of the machined articles.
LEAK TEST
When the leak-tightness of an article must be granted – a frequent requirement in the automotive field and also in other fields – it is mandatory to check that the components do not have air leaks. The leak-tightness is checked by means of a leak test under pressure. Just to make an example, the weldings undergo such tests, whether they are weldings of fitting on pipes, of pipes on tanks or of halves of tanks (but the applications are not limited to this example).
The leak test under pressure carried out by GS Finishing Machines can be divided in two main cathegories.
LEAK TESTS WITH POSITIVE PRESSURE
They are carried out by means of an analogue sensor managed by a specifically designed software, sealing all openings and outlets and then blowing air inside the article. The testing cycle, after the sealing of the articles, goes through the following steps:
- a pressurization time
- a stabilization time
- a first reading of the pressure
- a second reading of the pressure after a certain time
- a comparison between the set parameters and those detected, giving a diagnostics of the result of the test.
The process data and parameters can be set and modified on the operator panel and can be displayed during each step of the test.
LEAK TESTS WITH NEGATIVE PRESSURE/VACUUM
All openings of the article are closed and the air present inside the article is sucked, creating the vacuum. Then the same checks as the leak test with positive pressure are carried out.
