CLINCHING

Clinching is a cold-assembly technique used to insert into plastics inserts made of plastics or other materials, for example metal. The clinching device is made by a punch that deforms the rivet or any other insert in a uniform way.

There are two kinds of clinching, depending on the kind of deformation to obtain:

  • orbital clinching
  • radial clinching

Insertion by clinching can be applied to articles produced by means of injection moulding, extrusion moulding, compression moulding, thermoforming, blow moulding, suction 2D/3D (2k) and rotational moulding.

Among the articles clinched by the customized machines of GS Finishing Machines there are the following, listed as an example: battery boxes, automotive pedalboards, supports for the steering column, filter boxes, tanks, pipes, conveyor ducts, light cases and accessory components of any nature.
